Pandemic Article and Photos O’ Day 115

1964 – Five days after passage of the Civil Rights Act, white men beat nine black boys for trying to order at a whites-only lunch counter in downtown Bessemer, Alabama.

July 7th

Today’s Photo O’ Day comes from a story of vandalism and violence – perhaps meant to send a racist message:

“Frederick Douglass Statue Vandalized in Rochester (NY) Park”

This vandalism happened on July 5th – the day after the anniversary of a powerful speech given by Douglass on Independence Day. I talked about this speech in my Photo O’ Day post yesterday.

This is a short post tonight as it’s late (0250) and I promised my wife that I’d get my lazy butt out of bed earlier than my usual sleeping in time.
