The always interesting Washington Post recently published this thought-provoking graphic illustrating birth year and percentage of one’s life to date during which the U.S. has been at war.

As we remember the many veterans and victims of those wars, it is fitting to pray the collect for this Eighth Week in Ordinary Time:

Grant us, O Lord, we pray,
that the course of our world
may be directed by your peaceful rule
and that your Church may rejoice,
untroubled in her devotion.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
